Hysteroscopy is an endoscopic examination method for observing the uterus.
Through the cervix, a hysteroscope is introduced in the cavity of the uterus and allows a transvaginal observation of the inner face of the uterus.
If pathological findings are detectable, instruments can be inserted via the working channel of the hysteroscopy sheath and curettage of the uterus, a biopsy or a surgical hysteroscopy can be performed.
